Magdalena Tomczak
Business Owner of Woman Divine, Botanical Skincare Formulator and Holistic Skin & Facial Therapist
Magdalena is a botanical skincare formulator and a holistic skin & facial therapist. Trained in a broad range of healing arts like herbal medicine, aromatherapy, holistic nutrition and an array of specialized face massage techniques, Magdalena is one of the pioneers in the holistic skincare movement. She has been working with clients in a private skincare practice since the mid-nineties. She created Woman Divine Skin Care in 2007.
Currently Magdalena devotes her time and energy to formulating botanical skincare and working one-on-one with her clients. Throughout her career, Magdalena has been true to overcoming the stereotypes presented by the beauty industry. She chooses to focus on finding connection with oneself, nature and her community and believes the plant-skin connection to be a potent starting point.
Magdalena’s work is a testimonial that questioning and re-thinking stereotypical approaches is a worthy pursuit and that common norms are often there to be broken and transformed.

Tell me more about your business (what do you do, who do you help, what does your workday look like, how do people find out about you).
I create botanical skincare for women of all ages but every once in a while a botanical skincare loving man finds his way to us too. I also work one-on-one with clients, supporting the health of their skin and helping them find their personal, intuitive connection to their beauty and to their skin. As a small business owner I get to wear many hats and my days are busy formulating, creating new products, sourcing raw materials or packaging, doing research and supporting my clients. I also stay busy deepening my knowledge and usually have a course on the go. My focus lately has been on deepening my herbal medicine knowledge and I just completed a year long herbal medicine making study. My business has grown by word-of-mouth and I choose to focus on our local community, both providing my services and collaborating with local organic growers and creative makers.
SHORT AND SWEET:
3 words you would use to describe yourself:
Intuitive, creative, individualistic.
Always…
Stay true to you.
Never…
Give up.
Favourite beauty regime, I mean you never miss this step, no matter what:
I love my nightly oil cleansing and facial compressing very much. It is so soothing, and relaxing and it surprisingly always connects me to my breath. I even wash my face before having a nap during a flight. I bring my little cleansing setup with me wherever I go. That’s how much I love it!
3 things you could not live without:
Pretty basic: organic food, purified water and my Face Balm | shea + sea buckthorn
GIVE IT TO ME ADVICE:
What advice do you have for women who want to age naturally:
Stop listening to what the world tells you about aging and beauty. If you listen to it and take it as truth you’ll definitely age fast and forever dislike yourself. Effective beauty care is based on self-knowledge, self-love and mindful care not on the fear of getting older. Always follow your intuition, not advertising. Good food, good sleep, plenty of movement, fresh air and botanical skincare based on your constitutional needs all contribute to keeping you healthy and vibrant. Ayurveda says that the highest level of health is beauty. That truly resonates with me.
If you could tell your younger self one thing that you know would have a BIG impact on the current version of you - what would it be?
Never mind what everyone says, you are worthy!
How do you relax your nervous system? Or best nervous system relaxation technique.
I meditate daily. I have been experimenting with Dr. Joe Dispenza’s meditations for the past three years or so and that has deeply enriched my life and helped me heal. I also live in the forest and count my blessings every morning when I wake up to the trees and the sound of the forest. I’ll say that it is very easy to feel peaceful, relaxed and happy in such surroundings.
Bucket list vacation that you hope to embark on in the next 5 years (where to, and why?)
I would love to spend a couple of months in my native Poland and travel the entire country. Poland is a beautiful historically rich country with impressive mountains and coastline and beautiful lakes and forests. I had no chance to visit many of the places since I left for Canada in the eighties. I guess I would like to do that to better understand my origins and that which has so deeply contributed to forming me as an individual.
In 25 years how would you like to be remembered MOST? 1 sentence or less.
As someone who cares and lives with presence.
